Action Taken

  • On 15th February 2023, JCI Chaktomuk and JCI Medical and Pharmaceutical Group held a virtual meeting to originally discuss on the site selection of the project and the scope of how can both teams support before and during the project.
  • With the assistance of our Vice President of International Corporation, we were able to select two potential schools in Kampong Speu province.
  • On 14th March 2023, our organizing team of JCI Chaktomuk under a project of “Mission for Cambodian Children’s Smile 2023” visited Steung Kleach and Samdach Chea Sim primary and secondary schools. During the site visit, our organizing team met with principals, teachers, and students to gather information regarding their dental care routine, and problems related to their dental care in order to assist in solving their problems.
  • Within March 2023, an organizing committee was formed and meetings occurred to brief about the project, assign roles, find sponsors, and begin planning and implementing the projects including design material, logistics for package and event date, and more.
  • Within April, the JCI Chaktomuk team welcomed the JCI Medical team from Japan and did a site visit together again to prepare for the event date. While organizing the committee team worked on logistics, packaging, and registering members for the event.
  • On 1st May, JCI Chaktomuk and JCI Medical and Pharmaceutical held a meeting physically at the JCI Cambodia Office to finalize on the flow of the event date and provide all information for each other to ensure everything is well prepared.
  • During the event day, the flow of the event on 03rd and 04th are the same. First, all participants, and dentists meet up at Hotel Phnom Penh to prepare for departure. While 4 of the organizing team consisting of the Project Chair, Co -Project Chair, and a couple of volunteers head to the site location 30 minutes in advance to prepare and test all technical in advances.
  • Once all participants arrive at the location, dentists prepare their room for a checkup while the rest perform the opening ceremony of the event. There are 4 rooms in total to make the flow smooth. The first room is the student's education room where 40 students come to get educated on dental care. The second room is the checkup room. Once the educating session is complete, students are transferred to a dental checkup. The third room is the general health checkup room where students go after completing dental checkups in the second room. The last room is where students receive their gifts including books, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and so on. And the cycle continues.
  • Our moderator of the event keeps students engaged through various activities including dancing, singing, role-playing, and many more entertainments to keep students who are waiting for their turn, not to be bored.
  • After all, the students fully checked up, the final session of cleaning the environment initiated by the Project Chair and JCI Medical team proceeded. Students scattered around the school and collected trash and provided it to the JCI Medical team who set up the proper place for burning.
  • After that, all dentists, and participants prepare for lunch at school and departure back to Phnom Penh to conclude the event.
